Cedros Heritage and Recreation Tour | Saturday 18 July 2026

Join the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago for the Cedros Heritage and Recreation Tour, a full-day guided experience through natural heritage, coastal landscapes, wartime history, wetlands and recreation in Trinidad’s southwest peninsula.

Taking place on Saturday 18 July 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., this tour invites participants to experience Cedros through geology, biodiversity, sea, community spaces and historic sites.

The tour includes visits to Balka Devi Mud Volcano, Green Hill Bunkers, Great Icacos Lagoon, Columbus Bay and the Three Sisters, Playa de Cedros for a refreshing sea bath, and Manmohansingh Park.

Cedros is a layered heritage landscape. The National Trust identifies Balka Devi Mud Volcano in Cedros Village as a Natural Heritage site, and its Cedros/Icacos tour route includes Green Hill, Columbus Bay, Great Icacos Lagoon and Balka Devi/Galfa Mud Volcano.

Columbus Bay is one of Trinidad’s most striking coastal areas, known for the Three Sisters rock stacks, calm Gulf of Paria waters, sandstone formations, and the tradition that it may have been the landing place of Christopher Columbus during his third voyage in 1498.

The Icacos area also carries strong ecological value. A 2017 Bioblitz in Icacos recorded a final count of 769 species, including vertebrates, invertebrates, plants, fungi, bacteria, bryophytes and algae. The same report notes that the remaining swamps and forests provide refuge for many species.

Together, these stops help tell a fuller story of Cedros: natural heritage, coast, wetland, biodiversity, wartime remains, recreation and community life.
