Meyler House

Meyler House is a landmark building which is located on the Belmont Circular Road near the Queen’s Park Savannah. It was built and designed by Scottish Architect George Brown circa 1906 and is cloaked with the characteristic trimmings of a typical gingerbread house including intricate fretwork, jalousies and finials capping the rooftop. The street obliquely opposite Meyler House is called Meyler Lane and so one can speculate that the name derived from prominent citizens who lived in the area. Once a private home, Meyler House has been adaptively reused to suit modern requirements. The building was fully refurbished in 2011 and it is currently used as a commercial office space. Also in recent times, it was rented as a neutral space for mediation for lawyers.
