Heritage Preservation and Research Unit
Internship Programme Description
PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION:
Over a two-month period, July – August 2023, interns will be required to produce a dossier on a heritage asset, chosen by the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago.
A dossier is a research document which captures the significance of a property of interest (POI) and ultimately justifies the listing of a POI under the National Trust Act Chapter 40:53. The dossier identifies and describes the contributing elements of heritage assets, which include natural as well as built heritage. Preparing a dossier involves the compilation of pertinent information about the POI from reputable sources. Production of a dossier can include primary research at the National Archives and interviews with stakeholders; secondary research and sourcing or producing architectural drawings.
The deadline for submission of the dossier will be week 8, at the end of the internship. Interns will be given a National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago certificate of completion.
Interns will also get hands on experience by also accompanying National Trust staff on monitoring exercises and site visits.
