Caura Heritage and Adventure Tour – Saturday 11 April 2026

Explore Caura — Lost Villages, Waterways & Cultural Revival

A National Trust heritage and adventure tour uncovering Caura’s abandoned village history, waterfall landscapes, and living cultural spaces.

Caura is a valley shaped by ambition, displacement, and renewal. From the unfinished Caura Dam Project to the remains of an old village reclaimed by forest, the area tells a story of development plans, community shifts, and enduring cultural expression.

This guided heritage and adventure tour brings participants into Caura’s layered past and present through exploration, interpretation, and immersion in its natural and cultural spaces.

Participants will experience:

  • Interpretation of the Caura Dam Project, including its intent, impact, and legacy
  • Guided viewing of relics from the old Caura Village, now partially reclaimed by nature
  • Bathing at Caura Waterfall and natural pools, a long-standing recreational tradition
  • A guided visit to Ile Park, the estate of noted musician Jah Jah Onilu, featuring live cultural entertainment

This tour is ideal for those interested in development history, cultural landscapes, outdoor recreation, and the intersections between heritage and contemporary creativity.
