Carlsen Field Heritage and Culinary Tour – Saturday 18 April 2026

Carlsen Field Heritage and Culinary Tour – Saturday 18 April 2026

Experience Carlsen Field — Food Traditions, Wartime History & Rural Life

A National Trust heritage and culinary tour exploring agricultural traditions, wartime remnants, and community markets in Carlsen Field.

Carlsen Field is a landscape shaped by global conflict and local resilience. Once home to a U.S. Army base during World War II, the area later evolved into a centre of agricultural activity, community enterprise, and rural living.

This heritage and culinary tour brings those stories together through hands-on experiences, guided interpretation, and direct engagement with local producers.

Participants will experience:

  • A DIY “milk a cow” activity, paired with dahee and penouse making and sampling
  • Interpretation of the U.S. Army base at Carlsen Field and the role of the local lumber company Tanteak
  • Opportunities to purchase ornamental and fruit plants from local growers
  • A visit to the Cashew Gardens Community Market, supporting small vendors and farmers
  • Time to relax and enjoy the natural ambience of the Carlsen Field landscape

This tour is ideal for food heritage enthusiasts, families, cultural explorers, and anyone interested in the intersection of agriculture, industry, and history.
