Harris Promenade

The “Last Train to San Fernando” on Harris Promenade was built in 1895 by Kitson and Company of Leeds, England. Purchased new by Trinidad Government Railways in 1895, it was turned out as No 11 of the TGR fleet. A twenty ton locomotive, it was overhauled by TGR in Port of Spain in 1924.

In 1966, No 11 was moved by rail to San Fernando and placed on permanent display on Harris Promenade. At the time she was serviceable but not in the best condition. Trinidad Government Railways was abandoned in 1968. No 11 was therefore not the last train to San Fernando in 1968, but symbolic.
