Event Details

This lecture will be facilitated by Dr Hollis “Chalkdust” Liverpool, eight-time winner of Calypso Monarch. He is a Calypsonian and scholar. Dr Liverpool holds a Ph.D. in History and ethnomusicology from the University of Michigan.

He is currently the Programme Professor at the Academy of Arts, Letters, Culture and Public Affairs at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. He has written Rituals of Power and Rebellion: The Carnival Tradition in Trinidad and Tobago 2001, and From the Horse’s Mouth, a socio-cultural history of calypso from 1900 to 2003 2003.

This lecture will take place at the Old Fire Station at NALIS from 5pm-8pm. Admission is $20.00. Parking will be available at the Trinity Cathedral Carpark (Queen Street Entrance)
